We are seeking a Mine Production Manager to support a project that manages and operates a Waste Isolation Pilot Project (WIPP) in New Mexico.
As the nation's only operating deep geologic repository for defense-related transuranic waste, WIPP is a critical link in the U.
S (ULSD SPEC).
mission to properly dispose of legacy waste from nuclear weapons production and nuclear defense activities.
The Mine Production Manager reports to the Mine Underground Operations Manager and is responsible for managing the revitalization of underground infrastructure and systems.
As well manage and maintain existing mined portions through ground control activities.
Drive innovation and safety.
Ensure MSHA compliance.
Plan and execute mining of access drifts and new waste disposal panels.
Establish and maintain regulatory relationships for underground operations and maintenance, mining growth and expansion, ground control, hoisting, underground maintenance and repair, and experimental and testing activities.
Job Duties Lead and coordinate mine production resources and lead the team to deliver safe, responsible, and effective min production including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and more.
Safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
Supervise mine services personnel, field operators and equipment to prepare and maintain services in support to the production team.
Understand mine plans and mine maintenance activities and collaborate closely with other shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in preparing and coordinating mine supporting activities.
Administer and comply with system requirements in a manner consistent with policies, procedures and regulations.
Seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and productivity of the production crew.
Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
Monitor the technical requirements of the operations, including implementation of quality control/assurance.
Set clear expectations and consequences utilizing the performance-based leadership model.
Participate in and concur with the development of operations budgets.
Provide technical / expert support to operations teams and ensure technical quality.
Provide active oversight of operations; nurture a culture of creativity, innovation, empowerment, and efficiency.
Directs preparation of cost estimates for operations activities and coordinates the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.

Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of relevant underground work experience.
Soft rock, continuous mining experience preferred:
salt, potash, trona, and coal considered.
Experience working within a union environment is preferred.
In-depth knowledge and skill in all phases of underground mine planning.
In-depth knowledge of human resources aspects of managing people including scheduling and planning, managing overtime, seniority, rules and regulations, discipline, union grievance procedures, etc.
Highly knowledgeable and skilled regarding underground safety practices and procedures including managing to MSHA 30CFR Part 57.
In-depth knowledge of all phases of mine production and safe use of equipment.
In-depth knowledge of ground control installation techniques and safe use of equipment.
Skilled at reading, interpreting, and managing in accordance with mine maps, plans, procedures, and specifications.
Knowledge of mine ventilation systems, equipment, and controls.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
